I found this little guy (or gal - I didn’t ask) wandering around the worktop in my kitchen this evening, so I offered him or her an impromptu portrait session. He’s a Tropical House Gecko - there are several in the house, and you often see them running up the walls, but not usually out in the open like this.

He was quite willing to pose - even when I brought the camera very close.

For those of you that are interested in the technicalities, these images were taken with a Canon G9 point-and-shoot, set to F2.8 at 1/60th sec, ISO 80, macro mode, with a Canon 550EX flash off-camera connected to the hotshoe by a connector cord. The flash illumination was bounced off a white wall.
