I used a Florida-based export agency - Americarr - you tell them what kind of vehicle you are looking for, and your budget, and they will basically go and find something to match. Then they handle the whole export process, including shipping. The only downside is that you have to trust them to get it right as you don't have the opportunity to inspect the car yourself. The whole process was fairly painless, although there was a delay of about six weeks waiting for the title documents to come through from the auction house. Oh and paying roughly 45% import duty wasn't much fun either!! But the Jeep Liberty I wound up with is in good shape, had only one previous owner and a clean Carfax record, so overall I'm happy. And I saved probably a couple of thousand dollars compared to buying something similar here - even if I could have found one. Living in Long Bay as I do, where the roads are compacted rock with a good selection of potholes and no tarmac surface, a vehicle that has high ground clearance and is good on the rough stuff was a must.
