Hurricane Hanna
So we had rain and high winds and flooding, and a few trees down - but despite it all the effects have been relatively mild. Nobody hurt (thank God) - very little property damage - and our power was out for only about 48 hours. Compared to folks in Haiti and the DR, and even the US who were hit by Gustav, we escaped quite lightly. Hanna's track: So we survived Hanna. Somewhat more worrying is the approach of Hurricane Ike, which is already a dangerous Category Three hurricane while still far out in the Atlantic, and is due to arrive here on Sunday - perhaps as a Five - the mother of all storms. Time to get the hurricane shutters up on the windows and hope it turns away, I think.
Oh I hope everything went ok for you with Hurricane Ike. I’m hearing reports that more than 80% of homes on Grand Turk were destroyed by Ike.
I’m really hoping there were no deaths.
Personally, I can hardly wait until the end of the hurricane season.
